Everyone calls this delightful treat by a different name. Goo Goos, Preacher Cookies, and Candy Cookies are pretty common here in the South. One thing is for sure, they are timelessly delicious. Just the smell of these cooking in the kitchen brings back fond childhood memories. My family comes running to the kitchen to confirm the delicious aroma filling the house is indeed a batch of Candy Cookies. It only takes a few minutes to make these so when I want a quick chocolate fix I whip up a batch of these Candy Cookies. Go make some! Your family will thank you!
Candy Cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups granulated Sugar
- 4 TBSP. Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 stick Butter, melted
- 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter- Creamy or Crunchy
- 3 Cups Quick- Oats
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
- Wax Paper
Directions: In a large pot, combine the sugar and cocoa powder until well bended. Add the Milk and melted Butter, stirring the mixture well. Cook on medium high heat. Boil for 3 minutes, whisking constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients. Place a sheet of wax paper on a cookie sheet and drop cookies onto the wax paper. I use a cookie dough scoop but a Tablespoon will do. Make sure you do this while it is still HOT. The cookies will set into a fudge like texture as they cool. Allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
Please leave a comment! Do you have any fond memories of these cookies?
